
Sundance Square Chosen for Spirit of Enterprise Award Sundance Square , overseeing leasing and brokerage of retail, commercial, and residential properties in downtown Fort Worth, has been named recipient of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce’s 2004 Spirit of Enterprise Award. The award will be presented at the Chamber’s 123rd Annual Meeting June 1, noon, at the Renaissance Worthington Hotel. The award, initiated in 1975, recognizes local companies for outstanding contributions to the development of the community. Selected by the four most recent chairs of the Fort Worth Chamber, the recipient company is chosen for contributions to the advancement and prosperity of the city, as well as a commitment to the preservation of the American private enterprise system. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to recognize Sundance Square for the revitalization of downtown, the creation of a unique urban renaissance, and the momentum of a business environment that is unmatched nationally,” said John Gavin, chairman of the award selection committee, and president and CEO -DFW Metroplex, Wells Fargo. Bill Thornton , president and CEO of the Chamber, said, “Chambers and economic developers around the country come to see what’s been accomplished in our downtown, and we couldn’t have done it without the vision of the Bass family and the creative leadership of the team over at Sundance Square.” Founded in 1982, Sundance Square employs 85 and leases office, retail and residential properties, as well as overseeing parking facilities and working with numerous organizations to coordinate downtown events such as the Komen Race for the Cure, Cowtown Marathon, Main Street Fort Worth Arts Festival, Starbucks Parade of Lights and lighting of the Sundance Square / Texas Motor Speedway Children’s Charities Christmas Tree. At the Chamber’s Annual Meeting, Sundance Square will present a video documenting the past 25 years of metamorphosis the downtown area has undergone, and Edward P. Bass of Sundance Square will accept the award. The Chamber’s new officers and board of directors will be officially recognized: Chairman Albon Head, partner in charge – Fort Worth, Jackson Walker, L.L.P.; Vice Chairman Vernon Bryant, president and CEO, TexasBank; and Treasurer and Chairman of Finance Allyson Turner Baumeister, partner, Sanford, Baumeister & Frazier, P.C.
